Book your holiday to Taiwan with Wendy Wu Tours
One of the largest and oldest temples in Taiwan, Longshan Temple was built in 1738 by Han immigrants from Fujian as a gathering place for Chinese settlers. Today it is one of the city's top religious sites, and it is a wonderful mix of the Taoist, Buddhist, and Confucian faiths.
Longshan Temple is brimming with stories of ancient tales, of religious pomp and tradition. Hailed as the most popular temple of Taiwan. Located in Wanhua District and built in 1738 its architecture is symbolic of its mixed influences of Taoist, Buddhist, and Confucian faiths. Its initial purpose was to serve the locally based settlers that have moved from the province of Fujian. Locals banded together to resurrect after bombing destroyed much of it during World War 2 and it has proudly stood as a deacon of community ever since.
